Very rustic and homely atmosphere. Service was a little slow to get going. Average Old school breakfast and coffee served here.

After a busy Morning exploring the Hunter Valley drove back into Cessnock for some shopping and lunch. Picked the Cafe on Cooper very nice menu to suit all tastes. So glad we stopped here both had the Barra, Chips and Salad would be one of the nicest fish lunch's I've had for sometime nice coffee and really friendly staff, thanks ladies.

Our breakfast here was somewhat disappointing. We ordered hot breakfast - vegetarian breakfast which did not have baked beans or hash browns on the menu but they ended up on my plate. So I thought I got the wrong order but then was told thats what it comes with. OK its not on the menu. The eggs were overcooked and the plate had too much water on it from the eggs not been drained properly obviously making the rest of the food soggy. The food was rather average. My husband's breakfast was average too, he didn't enjoy it. I think the quality was poor and we got the impression they would be rushing through the orders and just servicing whatever on the plate as they were busy. We didn't know it was a busy weekend in town only to find out from some locals there was a concert the night before. Our drinks - hot chocolate was not hot (luke warm) but didn't return it considering how long we waited for it. My husband got the wrong drink but we didn't realise it wasn't fresh pineapple juice until the waitress came back about 1/2 hr late and said we got the wrong juice and gave us the right juice. Overall we waited 1 hr for our breakfast and were very close to leaving. OK they were busy but you would think they would be more organised because surely they would know they would be in for a big weekend with lots of people in town. Our bill was not cheap so this cafe would not be one we would return to. Best to try elsewhere.

I've been here a few times and like their menu and coffees. Breakfast ranges from plain toast to full cooked breakfast, and the banana bread is delicious. They also make a good decaf coffee! Service is fast and friendly.

With a town full of great eateries, cafe on cooper needs a bit of a spruce up. It's old and drab by and feels sad sitting inside. Maybe a new colour or an updated menu. However in saying that the meals are reasonably priced.I had the Fish, Chips & Salad. The fish was nice, the salad was basic and my piece of lemon was old and I couldn't use it. When I order a salad I expect it to have a dressing on it, not given a little sachet of dressing to do it myself. As well as given a sachet of tartare sauce. You might want to rethink this Chef because I'm paying to sit in a cafe and have a meal I'm not at the local fish and chip takeaway store. All in all it was a pleasant experience, but everything is old and tired and sad even the staff need a bit of pick me up, smiling wouldn't go astray.

Had a breakfast here, and enjoyed French toast with maple syrup and bacon. One gluten free and one not. The gluten free bread is great; same size and taste as. Kemal bread; which is a first! The staff were knowledgeable about it too, and clearly cared about providing good ingredients. The juices and milkshakes were good too. Only downside was my uncle's bacon wasn't crispy even though that was requested when ordered; and the amount of bacon was a bit stingy given the amount of bread. Otherwise a nice little place serving good food at reasonable prices :)
